Development Assessment

The Need

EasterSeals provides services, education, outreach, and advocacy so that people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work, and play in our communities. EasterSeals Midwest has been serving families in the St. Louis region for more than 50 years. With the transition of its long-serving chief development officer, EasterSeals Midwest sought an independent assessment of its development operations, staff, and systems, prior to recruiting a new development executive.

How We Helped

Rubin & Associates consultants Wendy Dyer and Michael Rubin worked with the CEO and key staff members to look at recent fundraising performance, results of similar organizations, Board and staff relationships, database, staffing and return on investment over a three year period.

The Outcome

Knowing the baseline status of fundraising was a valuable tool for the CEO, Board, and the new Chief Development Officer. The in-depth analysis provided a framework for development operations, and provided the data to focus resources and attention for improved fundraising. In addition to a stronger annual fund, they helped lay the groundwork for an endowment campaign.

From the Client

“Wendy and Michael’s Development Assessment was a tremendously helpful tool as I came aboard as the new CDO. I still keep it next to my desk to measure how far we’ve progressed.”
– Tom Barry, Executive Vice President of External Relations and Chief Development Officer
