The Need
For 150 years, Jewish Family Services of St. Louis (JFS) has provided children, adults, and seniors in the St. Louis region with the supports they need to lead vibrant, healthy lives. Through a comprehensive range of services, JFS helps seniors remain independent and connected to the community, reduces hunger, and empowers children to thrive. To ensure they had the necessary resources to support the current and expanding needs of the community, JFS engaged Rubin & Associates to help manage and grow their grant program.
How We Helped
Rubin & Associates consultant Wendy Rosenblum drew on her previous experience with JFS and her knowledge of local and national funders to manage the organization’s grant program during a leadership change. She has continued to provide services in collaboration with the new Chief Development Officer. These include:
- Identifying and researching prospective funders
- Providing strategies for outreach and stewardship of funders
- Writing new grant proposals
- Reviewing and editing annual grant reports
The Outcome
In the first 12 months of the engagement, Wendy wrote grants that secured more than $600,000 in funding for JFS (both general operating and program specific). She also reviewed and edited annual reports to funders, providing valuable feedback to steward the donor relationship.
